Snaps From San Francisco Trip

As promised, here are the photos that I clicked on my trip to San Francisco. All the owl pottery photos were taken in Chinatown at the store called Peking Bazaar. This remains one of my favorite shops which I always visit while I am in San Francisco. This time, I was so happy to see so many owls displayed right at the front door. There's an owl bowl, cup, teapot, coffee mug, soap dish, ginger grater, salt and pepper shaker and a figurine. Have you been here? How do you like their merchandise?

I managed to make a quick stop at CB2 and Anthropologie where I found very cute owl pillows and ornaments respectively. The decoration at Anthropologie store was breath-taking and I got to meet Vivian, who has done all that stunning paper decoration. You can see more decoration photos here.

These cute wooden owls are by Kirsty McIntosh. Available in several colors and two cute shapes (with or without tail) at ROMP. Don't you love the colorful patterns on these owls? Notice the newspaper print on the owl in the third picture.

On a personal note: It was a great day in San Francisco. After finishing my work, I had some time left to wander around the lovely city. I have some great photos to share with you. You'll be surprised to see my finds. I'll have them up as soon as I can. Can't wait to get home!

Xenia Tale: Tiles

Xenia Taler and her partner Steven Koblinsky mold, glaze and decorate each tile by hand in their studio in Toronto. Amazing, amazing work on the tiles. I like them all but I love the round tile in the last picture a lot and the chubby owl looks so cute. No? Make me want to redecorate my kitchen!

Why they create tiles? Xenia says "Because we hope that one day, a long, long time from now, not only will your children fight mercilessly over the wonderful tiles you had so wisely purchased, but even when humankind is forced to venture off this world and fend amongst the stars, those tiles will be the second or third item on a strict ten item list which your descendents feel they must take along with them on their arduous journey."

Sandra Isaksson is a London based illustrator and and graphic designer. She creates unique pattern designs for wallpaper which are unique and so fun. Aren't these fun? There are also home goods, fabric and books available at Isak.

So, I am still in San Francisco. It was really hot yesterday (we couldn't feel air conditioning at the conference) but it's cooling down gradually. I am hoping for a pleasant day today as I am planning to get off the meeting early and spend some time walking around in the city. I love this city! Yes, I'll take some photos too. Enjoy your day and take care!

Don't these look like miniature wearable art pieces?

Gift Packaging and Greeting Cards

The top two pictures are of Christmas cards, and the bottom two are of owl packaging. It's so hard to find a gift wrapping paper with an owl print. This one is super cute! Isn't it? There is owl print gift tote, mini tote for gift card and tissue for wrapping gifts. These are available at Gallery19.

Donna Wilson

Have you seen Donna Wilson's new 2010 knitted owl cushions? Oh, these are so cuddly. Each cushion is hand made of knitted lambswool from the sheep in Scotland. I love everything this artist makes, and I am sure you will too. I found her cushions at Heal's. Check out her website for more products.

Oil Burner

This hand carved, soapstone owl oil burner is made in India. The carving is intricate and the stone color with hints of pink and gray is lovely. I am a big fan of home fragrance oils and shop for them mostly at The Body shop. Some of my favorites are Lemon Basil and Tobacco Flower (weird name but heavenly fragrance) . Do you have a favorite?

Get it for $12.95 at Bellirosa.

Forever21

I shop at Forever21 when I am looking for something stylish which doesn't cost a fortune. I recently bought a set of 5 ethnic bangles for $5.80. No kidding! These owl necklaces and bracelets with owl engraving (which I love!) under $10 each. Do you shop at Forever21? What's your style?
