Tohato is a Japanese food brand that offers variety of snacks like caramel corn, potato rings, chocolates in star shape, sesame cookies etc. I am sure most of you will agree when I say that Japanese packaging is created not to just hold the food, but to also have a unique quality of cuteness aka "Kawaii".

This cute looking caramel corn packaging - screaming "adorable!" - had all my attention instantly the moment I saw it. There are about 32 designs and each flavor features a cute character with a fun expression.

I am convinced the first image looks like an owl. Do you agree? Some of their products are available here.

Perler Beads Owls

I adore these colorful owls made with Perler beads by Flora. I never got a chance to play with these kind of beads when I was a kid because they were not available in India. After seeing these little guys, I am inspired to try making some myself. Did you play with the beads while growing up?

Brighton based designer Amy Maggs specialises in home textiles print design. She gained a textile degree at Falmouth university, Cornwall and designed album covers and merchandise for music artists Offside and Graham Croft. Her work is inspired from geometric patterns encompassing "layering patterns, interesting combinations of colour and a range of unusual surface textures". You can view more of her pattern designs on her website. The shown pattern is from her "Collection Four" which stood out to me because of its unique owl like shape.

Lydia Kasumi is an illustrator and installation artist living in London who graduated from University of Gloucestershire in 2010. Her 3D paper models are often inspired by geometric shapes and nature.

"My work encompasses my love of detail and colour and covers a wide range of creative disciplines. I am constantly exploring, always challenging, perennially happy; painting, drawing, making."

Forest Dwellers is an exploratory set design in collaboration with Castro Smith. I am swooning over her detailed and intricate work on the owl model. Her colorful and whimsical pieces are truly a feast for the eyes.

Australian artist Sean Avery makes these amazing sculptures out of old CDs. He breaks the CDs in specific shapes and then arranges them meticulously to turn them into these stunning and detailed animal sculptures.

“The nature of my sculpture practice ensures that each piece will be completely unique. I blend many different man-made materials together to make them appear strangely organic, with a distinct sense of movement,” the artist shares about the process. “I only use recycled materials to create my sculptures, which classifies my work as ‘sustainable art.’”

This talented scupltor has some very impressive skills of recreating fur, feathers and scales that alomost look natural and soft despite being made of fragments of hard plastic CDs.
