Rachael Ashe is a visual, mixed-media and altered book artist currently living in Vancouver, BC, Canada. She uses old books mostly found at second-hand stores as a material to create sculptural assemblage collage. Scissors, glue, gel medium, an xacto knife, and a bone folder knife are some of the basic tools she works with to create the amazing altered books.
The above shown books are from the 'owl series' that includes snowy owl, long-eared owl, horned owl, and barn owl. Artist says: "Owls are enjoyable subjects to work with because they have more expressive faces than the average bird."
You can see more of her pieces on here and watch the following video to get a sneak peek of her incredible work.
Lately I have been unconsciously (just realized) collecting coin banks. Everytime time I visit a thrift store or a second-hand shop I find myself a piggy bank. When I saw this porcelain guy, I started to gravitate towards it too.
How cute is this owl piggy bank! They are available in three colors- black, green and red. I love the detailed pattern and gold detailing on it. A great gift for an owl lover or piggy bank collector :)
If you have been reading my blog for awhile then you would know how much I admire Nathalie Lete's work. I am in love with this owl rug, perfect for bathroom, walkway or bedroom.
Hostess featured this lovely Owl Love Dessert Table created by Gayle for her daughter's birthday. There are many inspirational ideas to be found in this post that you can use for your next owl themed party. If I have to pick just one favorite thing from this party then I'll choose the heart shaped face owl cake and cake pops (okay, that's two). I adore the dreaminess of the color palette of soft hues, and how cute is that paper owl pom pom, garland, owl ornaments tree and the cape.
This party is a great inspiration for Valentine's Day too! So don't forget to bookmark this for later.
