Zack Mclaughlin is a children's book illustrator and a sculptor based in London. His life size sculptures of birds and owls are hand made with wood and paper. The barn owl sculpture shown above is simply stunning!

From the artist's website about the barn owl: "The body and legs are carved out of wood, the feet and eyes are made from clay and the wing and tail feathers are made from watercolour paper with wire for structure. Then I paint the body, face and feet with acrylic paints before coating the whole owl with a few coats of matte varnish to protect from dust and discoloration." The whole process of meticulously putting together the masterpiece took over 100 painstaking hours.

He also creates one-of-a-kind beautiful wall lights that'll make a great statement piece for your home. Take a look at his online store and if you have an idea, Zack will be glad to make something custom for you. He can be contacted through his website and if you want to get updates on his new work, join him on Facebook.
