Mom Turns Her Son's Naptime Into Magical Dreamlands

I'll leave you for the weekend with these super sweet images by a California based freelance artist and photographer Queenie Liao and a mother of three. Her son Wengenn inspired her for an album called “Wengenn in Wonderland” a collection of over 100 images featuring her child dreaming about a wonderland. She started to take pictures of his first son, drawing inspiration from the beautiful works of Adele Enersen and Anne Geddes. In 2010,  after seeing the work of Adele Enersen on her sleeping daughter, she began experimenting with the similar idea with her then 3 months old son Wengenn. She uses clothes, stuffed animals and several other household things as her medium in setting up the background.

Liao shares from where she gets the ideas for the creative backgrounds. In her own words, “Well, I grew up indulging myself in fairy tales. In particular, as I read the beloved stories over and over again, my eyes would often be fixated at the beautiful illustrations, immersing myself completely with the stories. Those fairy tales from my childhood gave me a multitude of ideas to try out.”

A Chinese version of her book “Sleepy Baby" has been published in Taiwan which provides step-by-step details on the pictures were taken. The English version of her book is underway, till then go to her website to view all pictures from her project.

Have a lovely weekend, my friends!
xoxo
