Fairy-Tale Characters
Let me take you on a trip to fairy-tale land. It's a world created by Laetitia Miéral, a self-taught artist from France, inhabited by mysterious characters with castles and carousels. She studied art history, and worked as a costume designer for a theater company. She specializes in creating characters that are handmade by paper and papier mâché that are then painted with so much detail work that they appear to be real people. I am enchanted by there beautiful attires and their personalities.
"Ever since I was a child," she says, "I have been drawing, painting, and creating the characters from my dreams and imagination. I grew up with the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen, the Brothers Grimm, Lewis Carroll, Charles Perrault, and Madame d'Aulnoy. I work with paper, a never-ending source of inspiration for me. I create mobiles, grimoires, fairy paper jewelry, and puppets." - via.
She exhibits her amazing paper sculptures all over France and in abroad. She has an online store where she sells her sculptures as well as paper dollhouses.

Hoot Owl, Master of Disguise
Hoot Owl, Master of Disguise is a children's book written by Sean Taylor with illustrations by Jean Jullien. It's a hilarious tale of a hoot owl who's preparing in the darkness of the night to catch some dinner. But it doesn't take too long before the reader discovers "the wise owl" is not a master of disguise. Neither his disguises nor his tricks of catching are working. He tries to be a sheep, a fountain and even a carrot in hope to catch a prey but all his attempts remain unsuccessful.
The bold and simple graphics are created in thick lines. The characters are done in selective color scheme of black, orange, green and most of the background is dark. It's a story kids will love to listen to again and again, and laugh out loud every time. Available to order here.
