Gladys Paulus is a felt artist born and raised in the Netherlands. In 1995 she moved to UK where she presently lives in Bath, England. She made her first piece of felt in 2005 and ever since has been experimenting with various techniques for her work. Her best known work consists of a series of hand felted theatrical masks that are inspired by tribal dresses, puppetry, and storytelling. Her animal masks have been featured in Harrods Magazine's fashion feature, Paruno Mexico advertising campaign and Lou Rhodes album cover for ‘theyesandeye’.
She teaches felt making workshops and master classes around the world. She is a member of the Crafts Council Directory, International Feltmakers Association and Somerset Art Works. Her work can be found in private collections in Europe and the Americas. Her upcoming exhibition is from 3 Dec. 2016 through 28 Jan. 2017 in ‘Zoomorphic’ group show at Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre for the Applied Arts in South East Wales.
