Rachel Wright is an artist who specializes in embroidered textiles. She studied fashion and textiles at Birmingham City University before starting her business in 1994. Her work is inspired by animals, land, sea and cityscapes. Her collages are delicately hand or machine embroidered using bright threads onto papers and fabrics, the stitches on the surface makes each piece look like a painting.
"The embroideries enable me to draw and paint through the medium of fabric and stitch. My embroideries stand out because of the striking use of rich color, which captivates and draws the viewer in. My aim is simply to delight the eye."
Her work is available through galleries and shops. Rachel has exhibited with the 62 Group of Textile Artists, The Independent Textile Makers and the Society of Designer Craftsmen. She has also shown her work at events such as Art in Action and Artisan at the Edinburgh Festival.
