Welcome back friends! I hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving. How would you like to start off this week with these beautiful ceramic pieces by Betty Ntshingila.

Ardmore Ceramic studio was founded in 1985 by Zimbabwean-born ceramic artist Fée Halsted. It was started on Ardmore Farm in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains of KwaZulu-Natal. The studio works with the local talent who are given training to sharpen their skills and materials to work with. Last but not the least, Fée Halsted makes sure there is no stone left unturned in finding appreciators and collectors for the work.

While I was browsing their online collection, I instantly got gravitated towards the collection of the sculptor Betty Ntshingila who worked in collaboration with local painters on the ceramics. It's the deep, bold colors and the three dimensional element of the pieces that make everyday use items so artistic. The owl candle holders, cheetah box, parrot plate and hoopoe bowl are heirloom ceramics that will be cherished by one for ever.

"Her caring and nurturing instincts are reflected in her work and her maternal traits are seen in her choice of subject matter."
