Black and White Ceramics by Jennifer Falter

Jennifer Falter is a ceramic artist and the owner of Springfield Pottery Center in Missouri a community clay center to teach classes and for exhibitions. She earned her BFA in ceramics from Missouri State University in 1996. She works on pure white porcelain as her canvas and black slip. To reveal the final imagery she carefully carves away the black slip with sgraffito, this technique leaves behind a lovely texture. Each piece is hand-thrown and bisqued making them ideal to be used everyday. "I strive to make pots that others will enjoy using in their daily lives." The artist's work can be found in several galleries throughout the region and in private collections. You can view more of her ceramic ware here

Doodles Created With Shadows of Everyday Objects

Vincent Bal is a shadowologist and filmmaker from Antwerp, Belgium. He creates whimsical doodles with the shadows of everyday objects that are placed in the sunlight. There is an out-of-the-box element along with the clever humor in his work. The shadow of an apple core turns into an owl perched on a branch or an ordinary looking pair of scissors turn into a cowboy in middle of a desert. His doodles are available as prints in limited prints that come signed by the artist in his online store.

"Fairy Tale" by West Elm

I stumbled across the owl vase (shown on the top) and fell in love with it instantly. Upon searching I found out that the owl vase is a part of this delightful collection Fairy Tale by West Elm. The whimsical designs are hand-painted with animals and characters that will turn your every meal into works of art. The collection offers plates, cups, salt & pepper shakers, trinket dishes and vases. Another thing I love about the collection is the monochromatic theme with a pop of color that just brings the designs to life.

Embroidery by Renee Rominger of Moonrise Whims

Renee Rominger founded Moonrise Whims in 2014 when she decided it was time to turn her passion in a business. She has always been a creative person and grew up among creative people in her family. So when she found herself without a job she started to do what she loves the most - creating beautiful embroideries. "Even to this day, after stitching thousands of pieces, I still feel a spark of joy & love every day for embroidery."

Her embroideries are primarily done in straight and zig-zag stitches that create wonderful shading for the piece. The theme of her work ranges from skulls to owls, to anatomy to which she sometimes incorporates flowers which create feminine effect. To view more of her work go to Instagram.  She has also published a book with tutorials and instructions on creating unique designs, it's titled "Edgy Embroidery".
