Countryside Landscapes Interpreted in Paintings by Mary Sumner

I shall wrap up for the weekend with the beautiful artwork by Mary Sumner. Her work is filled with colors and rich textures, truly a visual treat of the viewer. She enjoys to paint farms, animals with lush, sprawling landscapes. Her paintings are inspired by her imagination as well as photos, drawings and found objects that she collects on her daily walks. She captures and interprets the natural world of her immediate surroundings in her vivid paintings.

"I try to convey how I feel about my subject matter through colours/ forms & rythms in my work & sometime humour, I most enjoy the gathering of information for the paintings i.e.walking through a chosen landscape then reliving the experience in a painting in the studio. There is always something visually that strikes me everyday, however small, that I want to record & share because it will (hopefully) lift the spirits" she shares here.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Self-Taught Artist Makes Art for the Whimsical Heart

Dayna Corbitt of Whimsy Calling is a self-taught designer and sculptor who has been creating whimsical figurines since 2013. Her work is inspired by the natural world and its beauty, as a child she used to spend time outside playing with rocks and studying insects that influenced her work. Besides that Dayna loved movies such as The Princess Bride, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, and Never Ending Story.

Her characters are a born of her imaginative mind that are familiar and yet seem to be from some other planet. An owl with the wings of a moth or a tiger who has a mermaid body look absolutely adorable and quirky. The artist spends hours sculpting the figurines and paints them in acrylic before sealing them with a protective coating for durability. The figurines can be as small as 1 inch to 2 1/4 inches tall. You can view more of her on her website and on Instagram.

Street Artist Paints Large Scale Murals Combining Animals and Flowers

Images via Pinterest

Miami based street artist Ernesto Maranje has been painting large scale murals since 2015 and quickly gained popularity for his unique painting style. His murals feature animals mixed in with flowers and other natural element that's a reminder for the viewer that we are part of nature and should respect it. Ignoring the living nature around us has resulted into catastrophic consequences.

He has painted on high walls, some being a staggering 16 story high building in Kiev. No one could have guessed that he is afraid of heights! The piece he paints keeps him absorbed and the worry of finishing it on the deadline keeps his mind away from how high is he working. He has painted huge murals in Florida, Ukraine, Jordan, London, Spain, Oregon and more. To view his work in collaboration with other artists and to find out what is he working on presently visit him on Instagram.
