It's been a while since I shared the amazing work of
Matte Stephens. New Hampshire based artist makes paintings with great modern design and charming retro style. He loves mid 20th century industrial and graphic design such as the work of Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard, George Nelson/Irving Harper and artists like Ben Shahn and Paul Klee. His quirky characters and cities are painted in muted colors and have humor to them. "I love light-hearted subjects. I try to stay away from anything with angst in it. To me, life is tough enough, so adding to it with disturbing images just seems a little silly to me" via
here.
He has a very impressive list of clients including Tiffany & CO, American Express, Herman Miller, Uppercase, Jonathan Adler, Oxford University Press, Chronicle Books and Disney to name a few. He has shown his work at the places like Office PDX, Together Gallery, Outre Gallery, Cheeky B, Nahcotta, Bear and Bird Gallery, Alphabets, Renegade Craft Fair shop, Velocity Art and Design, Reform School, Rare Device, Super 7, Subtext, Nucleus and Jonathan Adler. His work has been featured all over the internet on several blogs and websites.
You can find the artist's originals and limited edition prints in his
online store.
