Japanese Artist Paint Owls and Other Creatures That Illuminate in the Moonlight Background

Japanese young artist Takashi Kanazawa paints owls, cranes, tigers, dragons and mythical creatures using metallic mineral paints, and gold and silver foil. He paints these creatures on washi paper, a Japanese traditional paper hand-made with fiber. In his Nihonga paintings the artist depict the animals illuminating by waning moons on a dark background.

He has participated in solo and group shows including NIHONGA: Contemporary Art of Japan, SEIZAN Gallery, New York. To see more of his paintings you can visit Artsy and to learn more about him go to SEIZAN's website.
