Alice Mary Lynch is a textile artist based in Somerset. Both her parents were artists who had a great influence on her while growing up. She use to frequent flea markets hunting for unique treasures to construct fairytale world and their creatures.
''I love imagination and humour, people who have their feet on the ground whilst dreaming, the poetry in everyday life. I like a certain vulnerability whilst standing strong, 1930's cabaret, dark shiny and mad...I like the circus, the colours when the lights go down, the trapeze artist making an entrance. I like it behind the scenes, there are stories there too, and toys and childhood and history on our doorstep.''
After she studied Fashion Design at Kingston University, London, she worked as a designer for John Galliano, Christian Dior and Sonia Rykiel in Paris. During those years she gained immense experience in stitching, beading and embellishment. She returned to somerset after nine years and started to make whimsical creatures for herself. She uses vintage and contemporary fabrics to hand-stitch each one and their lovely attires before finishing them with Swarovski crystal embellishments, and jeweled crowns and necklaces.
She has worked with Anthropologie, Alice Temperley, Anya Hindmarch, Pearl Lowe, Victoria Beckham, Merchant Archive and Marwood London. Alice's new collection in collaboration with Harrods feature one-of-a-kind and limited edition handmade decorations and tree toppers that will make for a perfect keepsake to be enjoyed through generations.
