Fabric Postcards Stitched With Wildlife Portraits

Kathryn Harmer is a mixed media artist who primarily works in textile. She "paints" on fabric with thread and needle using her sewing machine like one would use a pencil to draw. “I draw from photographs and life and then re-interpret those sketches with the medium of fabric and thread."

Her work is inspired by nature and her love for the animals. Her series called "Postcard" depicts wild animals from Africa and Australia stitched in fabric. The artist uses inks and paints and embeds fibers such as tulle and organzas which she then stitches in an array of colors brings her subjects to life.

These animals are available as fabric panels printed onto cotton fabric perfect for quilting or to frame, find them here.
