Stacey Elaine is a paper artist and an illustrator from Connecticut where she lives with her husband and their two sons. Stacey creates hand-cut illustrations with multiple layers of tissue paper which she carefully assembles and seals onto watercolor paper.
She shares in her bio "The idea to work with tissue paper came to me as I was falling asleep one night, and since I started working with this medium it has felt more natural and effortless than anything else I’ve ever made. "
She uses an x-acto knife, and cuts tissue paper with intricate patterns and designs that form the animals surrounded by floral and water elements. The fur and the feathers of her subjects are made with hundreds of tiny cuts into paper that give so much rich texture to her art. Her work generally has a plain white background that works as a bold contrast against the colored images upon which they are glued.
You can find the originals and art prints on her website. To learn more about her work and to get updates on new work join her on Instagram.
