Ed Musante was born in Honolulu, HI in 1942 and presently based in Tucson, Arizon. Ed got education in art at the University of California, Berkeley, and gained a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. He specializes in painting birds and animals on vintage cigar boxes. He paints small-scale portraits of wildlife in saturated and bright colors. The artist uses rich dry pigments that pop on a natural finish of the wooden cigar boxes.
"He loves painting birds for their colors and attitudes ( a Rufous Hummingbird can be very territorial) and the graphics of cigar boxes can frame the birds and relate to them (A Barn Owl painted on a White Owl cigar box) in a symbiotic way." via
