Martina Billi is an Italian artist who is presently living in Madrid. She studied painting in Fine Arts Academy in Florence, Italy. She draws animals on wood, her work is inspired by the natural world and animal wisdom.
"I'm interested in the connection and ancient knowledge of animal kingdom, creating a visual dialogue between the paint and the observer. These animals talk us about our origins like human beings and push us to reflect on respect and peaceful coexistence."
She creates realistic animal drawings with pen, ink or pyrography on big pieces of recycled wooden boards. The subject matter in her work is often drawn in dark which pops on a natural colored wood. The detail work in her pieces is jaw-dropping, the fur and feathers of her creatures are formed by thousands of hair thin lines and tiny patterns work.
